Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Policy Analyst will lead research and analysis to shape Lesotho’s renewable energy policies, ensuring alignment with international best practices and national development goals. Working within the Policy and Research department, you will provide evidence‑based recommendations to government agencies, utilities, and development partners. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive policy analysis on renewable energy incentives, tariffs, and grid integration.
• Develop policy briefs, white papers, and stakeholder presentations that translate technical data into actionable recommendations.
• Engage with ministries, utility companies, NGOs, and private investors to gather data and build consensus.
• Monitor regional and global energy policy trends to inform Lesotho’s strategic planning.
• Support the design and evaluation of pilot projects that demonstrate innovative renewable technologies.
• Prepare impact assessments on socioeconomic and environmental outcomes of proposed policies.
• Contribute to the World Bank’s knowledge repository on African energy policy.

Required Skills

Education

Experience

Applicants must have at least five years of professional experience in energy policy analysis, regulatory affairs, or a comparable role within the public or development sectors. Prior experience in Southern Africa, especially Lesotho, is advantageous.

Salary

The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based incentives may be provided.
