Job Overview

The Blockchain Solutions Architect will lead the design, development and deployment of blockchain‑based platforms that enable secure, transparent and efficient financial transactions. Reporting to the Head of Innovation, the role will work closely with cross‑functional teams—including product management, engineering, compliance and partner organizations—to translate business requirements into scalable blockchain solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Architect end‑to‑end blockchain solutions that align with Mastercard’s security, scalability and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with product owners to define use cases, technical specifications and integration pathways for blockchain initiatives.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of blockchain platforms (e.g., Hyperledger Fabric, Ethereum) and associated tooling.
  • Develop smart contracts, consensus mechanisms and governance models tailored to financial services in Lesotho.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, data protection laws and Mastercard’s internal security policies.
  • Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of continuous learning within the technology team.
  • Conduct performance testing, risk assessments and optimization of blockchain networks.
  • Provide technical guidance to external partners, fintech startups and government agencies adopting blockchain solutions.

Required Skills

  • Deep expertise in blockchain architecture, cryptography, distributed ledger technologies and smart contract development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Solidity, Go, JavaScript or Rust.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of financial services workflows, payment systems and regulatory environments.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline is required. Experience
