We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Metallurgist to join our technical team in Qacha’s Nek. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize mineral processing circuits to maximize recovery rates and concentrate quality.
- Conduct detailed metallurgical balance calculations and performance monitoring.
- Design and implement pilot-scale testing programs for new ore bodies.
- Collaborate with the mining team to manage ore blending and feed consistency.
- Oversee reagent consumption and optimize chemical dosage in flotation circuits.
- Troubleshoot complex processing issues to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes.
- Proficiency in metallurgical modeling software and data analysis tools.
- Strong project management capabilities and technical reporting skills.
- In-depth understanding of mineral processing plant automation and control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities in a remote mining environment.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is mandatory. A Master’s degree in Mineral Processing or a related field is highly preferred for this senior-level position.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 5 to 7 years of direct experience in mineral processing within a large-scale mining operation. Proven experience in troubleshooting flotation and leaching circuits is essential. Experience working in remote locations is a significant advantage for this role.
Salary
The annual remuneration package for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 680,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical expertise. This is one of the most competitive employment in Lesotho for engineering professionals.
