Job Overview

The Bioenergy Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of bioenergy plants that convert organic waste into reliable electricity and heat. Reporting to the Head of Renewable Projects, the engineer will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including project management, operations, and research, to ensure that each bioenergy facility meets performance, safety, and environmental standards. The role involves site assessments, feasibility studies, system modeling, and overseeing the commissioning of pilot and commercial scale plants. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive site surveys and resource assessments to determine the viability of bioenergy projects.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, including process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and layout plans.
• Perform thermodynamic and economic modeling to optimize plant efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
• Lead the procurement and installation of key equipment such as digesters, boilers, and generators.
• Coordinate with construction teams to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety regulations.
• Oversee commissioning activities, conduct performance testing, and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor plant operation, analyze performance data, and recommend upgrades or operational improvements.
• Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and environmental impact assessments.
• Engage with local communities and stakeholders to promote project benefits and address concerns.
• Stay updated on emerging bioenergy technologies and regulatory changes to ensure continuous innovation.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of bioenergy conversion processes, including anaerobic digestion and biomass combustion.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, or similar simulation tools.

Education

Experience

Salary
