Job Overview

The Data Center Operations Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day management of Orange Lesotho’s primary data center located in Maseru. Responsibilities include ensuring optimal uptime, implementing robust security protocols, and leading a skilled technical team. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff to ensure 99.9% data center availability.
  • Develop and enforce operational policies, standard operating procedures, and security standards.
  • Monitor power, cooling, and environmental controls, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Plan and execute capacity upgrades, hardware refresh cycles, and disaster recovery drills.
  • Coordinate with network, security, and service delivery teams to align infrastructure with service level agreements.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level negotiations for equipment and maintenance.
  • Prepare detailed performance reports, budgets, and risk assessments for senior management.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and team‑building capabilities with a focus on mentorship.
  • In‑depth knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and networking.
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds.
  • Experience with ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑departmental collaboration.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Cisco CCNP Data Center, VMware VCP‑DCV, or ITIL Practitioner are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.

Experience
