Job Overview

This role is part of BBC Media Action’s initiative to expand digital literacy and local content creation in rural Lesotho. The Digital Content Creator will design, produce, and distribute multimedia content that highlights community stories, cultural heritage, and development challenges. This position supports Lesotho’s growing digital media landscape while aligning with global trends in participatory journalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging digital content (videos, podcasts, social media posts) for BBC Media Action’s Lesotho platform
  • Collaborate with local communities to co-create authentic narratives
  • Produce and edit multimedia content using industry-standard software
  • Conduct field research to identify compelling stories and trends
  • Optimize content for SEO and cross-platform distribution
  • Monitor analytics to evaluate audience engagement and content performance

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Sesotho
  • Experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer)
  • Creative problem-solving and adaptability in remote fieldwork
  • Basic understanding of media ethics and community engagement principles
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or related field

Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in digital content creation or multimedia journalism
  • Previous fieldwork or community engagement experience preferred

Salary

2000–3000 SSP/month, commensurate with experience.
