Job Overview
This role focuses on optimizing water distribution systems using IoT-enabled monitoring and data analytics. The Smart Water Management Specialist will design, implement, and maintain digital solutions to reduce water loss, improve efficiency, and ensure equitable access. The position aligns with Lesotho’s national goals for climate resilience and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage smart water networks using real-time data analytics and AI-driven tools.
- Collaborate with municipal authorities to integrate water-saving technologies into existing infrastructure.
- Conduct audits of water distribution systems to identify leakage and inefficiencies.
- Train local teams on the use of digital water management platforms.
- Prepare reports on system performance and sustainability impact for stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Expertise in water resource modeling software (e.g., InfoWater, WaterGEMS).
- Proficiency in IoT and SCADA systems for water monitoring.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting water usage patterns and optimizing distribution.
- Knowledge of Lesotho’s water policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration abilities.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or Water Resource Management. A Master’s Degree in Sustainable Infrastructure or Data Science is a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in water management, preferably with a focus on smart technologies. Prior projects in Lesotho or Southern Africa are advantageous.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
