Job Overview
The Cloud Solutions Architect will design, implement, and optimize cloud solutions for AWS customers in Lesotho and the broader Southern Africa region. You will work closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to understand business requirements, translate them into technical architectures, and ensure successful migration to AWS services. This role requires deep expertise in AWS platforms, strong communication skills, and the ability to guide customers through complex technical challenges while aligning solutions with regulatory and security standards.
As a key member of the Solutions Architecture team, you will also contribute to thought leadership by publishing best‑practice guides, delivering workshops, and representing AWS at industry events across Lesotho. Key Responsibilities
- Engage with enterprise and SMB customers to assess cloud readiness and define migration roadmaps.
- Design scalable, secure, and cost‑effective architectures using core AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and Kubernetes.
- Conduct proof‑of‑concept deployments, performance testing, and cost‑optimization analyses.
- Provide technical guidance on security, compliance, and data sovereignty specific to Lesotho regulations.
- Collaborate with AWS sales teams to develop solution proposals and respond to RFPs.
- Deliver technical workshops, webinars, and hands‑on labs for customers and partners.
- Document architecture patterns, reference implementations, and case studies for internal knowledge bases.
- Stay current with AWS service releases, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience designing and deploying solutions on AWS (certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional preferred).
- Strong knowledge of networking, security, databases, and DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (Python, Java, or PowerShell).
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of translating technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on cost‑efficiency and performance optimization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized cloud certifications are highly valued.
Experience
Minimum five (5) years of hands‑on experience in cloud architecture, solution design, or related roles. Prior experience delivering large‑scale migrations for enterprises in emerging markets is a distinct advantage.
Salary
The annual compensation package ranges from SSP 600,000 to SSP 900,000, commensurate with experience, certifications, and performance. The package includes a performance‑based bonus structure and eligibility for AWS stock‑grant programs.
