Job Overview
The Cloud Support Engineer will join Microsoft’s Cloud Operations team in Maseru, delivering world‑class technical assistance to customers using Azure services. This role is pivotal in ensuring high availability, performance, and security of cloud workloads for enterprises, government agencies, and NGOs across Lesotho and the broader Southern Africa region. The successful candidate will troubleshoot complex issues, collaborate with product engineering, and contribute to knowledge‑base articles that enhance the overall customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide tier‑2 and tier‑3 technical support for Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions, ensuring rapid resolution of incidents.
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex performance, networking, and security issues in cloud environments.
- Collaborate with product development teams to reproduce bugs, suggest improvements, and validate fixes.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge‑base articles for internal and external use.
- Conduct proactive health checks and performance tuning for high‑impact customer workloads.
- Mentor junior support engineers and contribute to internal training sessions.
- Engage with local developer communities, delivering workshops and webinars on cloud best practices.
- Assist in the creation of custom automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or ARM templates.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Storage, Networking, and Identity.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Experience with Linux and Windows server environments.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high‑quality service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional global team.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in cloud support, systems administration, or network engineering. Prior experience working with enterprise customers in a fast‑paced environment, preferably within the African market, will be viewed favorably.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. In addition to the base salary, employees are eligible for performance‑based bonuses and stock‑based incentives.
