Job Overview

The Energy Storage Systems Engineer will design, develop, and optimize battery storage solutions for utility‑scale and micro‑grid applications across Lesotho. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you will lead technical efforts from concept through commissioning, ensuring that each system meets performance, safety, and regulatory standards. This role involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including product development, field operations, and local partners, to deliver reliable, cost‑effective energy storage that supports grid stability and renewable integration. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design of lithium‑ion battery storage systems, including sizing, layout, thermal management, and control architecture.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and techno‑economic analyses to assess project viability and ROI for clients and partners.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) using industry‑standard CAD tools.
  • Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to source components that meet Tesla’s quality and sustainability criteria.
  • Perform system simulations and modeling to predict performance under various load and environmental conditions.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and performance testing of storage systems on site, ensuring compliance with local regulations and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during operation, delivering root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with local utilities, government agencies, and community stakeholders to align projects with national energy policies and development goals.

Required Skills

Education
