Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly meticulous and detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Specialist to join our growing team in Maputsoe. This role is critical to our operations, as you will be responsible for ensuring that all imported and exported goods comply with the regulatory requirements of Lesotho and international trade laws. The successful candidate will act as a vital link between our clients, customs authorities, and transport providers. This position requires a deep understanding of tariff classifications, duty calculations, and documentation management. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process accurate customs declarations and documentation for various types of cargo.
- Classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) codes to ensure correct duty application.
- Liaise with customs officials to facilitate the smooth clearance of shipments and resolve any discrepancies.
- Monitor changes in international trade regulations and local customs laws to ensure continuous compliance.
- Audit shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Advise clients on optimal shipping routes and duty-saving strategies within legal frameworks.
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of customs regulations and international trade compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Strong analytical skills for tariff classification and duty calculation.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with government officials and clients.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is mandatory. Professional certification in Customs Brokerage or Freight Forwarding is highly advantageous.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct experience in customs brokerage or international freight forwarding. Proven experience working with Southern African Development Community (SADC) trade protocols is preferred. We are looking for individuals who have a track record of navigating complex regulatory environments successfully.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 45,000 SSP to 65,000 SSP, depending on experience and qualifications.
