Job Overview

This Advanced Robotics Integration Specialist role is part of ABB’s mission to revolutionize Lesotho’s manufacturing sector through automation. The position involves designing, implementing, and optimizing robotic systems for industrial applications, with a focus on improving productivity, precision, and safety in advanced manufacturing environments. Candidates will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored automation solutions aligned with global best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and deploy robotic systems for manufacturing processes, including assembly lines and material handling.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations for automation projects.
  • Integrate robotics with IoT-enabled sensors and AI-driven analytics platforms.
  • Provide technical training to local engineers and operators on robotic system maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with international safety standards (ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066) and ABB protocols.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to source cutting-edge automation components.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in robotic programming (ROS, ABB RobotStudio, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial networking protocols (Modbus, EtherCAT).
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex automation workflows.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies (digital twins, predictive maintenance).
  • Fluency in English and basic Sesotho for client communication.
  • Project management capabilities for multi-phase automation initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
  • Master’s Degree in Automation or Advanced Manufacturing preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in robotics integration, preferably in manufacturing or energy sectors.
  • Proven track record in deploying robotic solutions in African markets.

Salary

3,000 – 4,500 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and technical expertise.
