Job Overview

The Agricultural Sustainability Specialist will work directly with smallholder farmers, agribusinesses, and government stakeholders to implement Yara’s sustainable farming solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sustainable farming programs tailored to Lesotho’s agro-ecological zones
- Conduct soil health assessments and recommend Yara’s crop nutrition solutions
- Train farmers on climate-smart agricultural techniques and resource efficiency
- Collaborate with local NGOs and government bodies to scale sustainable practices
- Monitor and report on the environmental impact of agricultural interventions
- Collect and analyze data to optimize fertilizer application and crop yields
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agricultural extension services or sustainability consulting
- Strong understanding of soil science, crop nutrition, and climate resilience strategies
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration abilities
- Proficiency in GIS mapping or agricultural data analysis tools
- Fluency in Sesotho and English
- Ability to work independently in remote rural areas
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Agronomy, or related field. Advanced degrees in Sustainable Development or Agricultural Economics are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in agricultural sustainability, preferably in Southern Africa. Prior work with smallholder farming communities is highly desirable.
Salary
25,000 – 35,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
