Job Overview

The Data Privacy Officer will lead Google Lesotho’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with local and international data protection laws while supporting product teams, marketing, and operations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures aligned with POPIA, GDPR, and other relevant regulations.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new products, services, and marketing campaigns.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for data subjects, regulators, and internal stakeholders on privacy matters.
• Lead privacy training programs for employees across all departments.
• Monitor legislative developments and advise senior leadership on emerging privacy risks.
• Collaborate with legal, security, and engineering teams to embed privacy by design into product development.
• Manage incident response for data breaches, including investigation, reporting, and remediation.

Required Skills

• Deep understanding of POPIA, GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection frameworks.
• Proven experience drafting privacy policies, consent mechanisms, and data processing agreements.
• Strong analytical and risk‑assessment capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex legal concepts for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally in fast‑paced, matrixed environments.
• Familiarity with cloud services, data analytics platforms, and emerging technologies.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/AF, or CIPM are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in data privacy, compliance, or legal advisory roles within technology or related sectors. Prior experience in a multinational corporation is a plus.

Salary

The annual compensation package ranges from SSP 800,000 to SSP 1,200,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and equity incentives.
