Job Overview
IBM Lesotho seeks a Digital Accessibility Specialist to lead the design and implementation of accessible software solutions. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with global accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.1, while fostering innovation in user experience (UX) for diverse audiences. The position is based in Quthing, Lesotho, and offers opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams on cutting-edge projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and test digital products (websites, apps, software) for compliance with accessibility standards.
- Conduct audits of existing systems to identify accessibility gaps and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with developers, UX designers, and product managers to integrate accessibility into development workflows.
- Train teams on accessibility best practices and tools, such as screen readers and voice recognition software.
- Stay updated on emerging accessibility technologies and regulatory changes in Lesotho and globally.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in WCAG 2.1, Section 508, and other accessibility guidelines.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, AXE, JAWS).
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for accessibility implementation.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies used by people with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills to advocate for inclusive design principles.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certifications in accessibility (e.g., CPwD, ARIA) are a plus.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in digital accessibility or UX design.
- Proven track record in implementing accessible technology solutions.
Salary
3,000 – 4,500 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
