Job Overview
The Disaster Resilience Coordinator will lead initiatives to strengthen community preparedness for natural disasters and climate-related emergencies. This role involves collaborating with local stakeholders, government agencies, and international partners to design and implement disaster risk reduction strategies. The position is ideal for a proactive professional passionate about safeguarding vulnerable populations in Lesotho.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments to identify community vulnerabilities to disasters and climate shocks.
- Develop and implement disaster preparedness plans tailored to local needs.
- Coordinate training programs for community leaders and first responders on emergency response protocols.
- Partner with local governments and NGOs to integrate resilience-building into development projects.
- Monitor and report on disaster trends, updating strategies based on emerging threats.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in disaster risk reduction, emergency management, or related fields.
- Strong project management and cross-sector collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of climate adaptation frameworks and humanitarian principles.
- Excellent communication and community engagement abilities.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Environmental Science, Public Health, or related disciplines.

Experience

- Experience working in Lesotho or Southern Africa is an advantage.
Salary
1,800 – 2,800 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
