Job Overview

The Education Program Coordinator will lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of UNESCO‑supported education initiatives in Butha-Buthe and surrounding districts. This includes curriculum development, teacher training, community outreach, and evaluation of program effectiveness. The coordinator will work closely with the UNESCO Country Office, the Ministry of Education and Training, local NGOs, and school administrators to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest standards of quality. The role also involves preparing reports, managing budgets, and representing UNESCO at national and regional forums. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and monitor education programs that improve access, equity and quality of learning.
  • Coordinate teacher training workshops, curriculum development sessions and community engagement activities.
  • Develop project work plans, timelines, budgets and performance indicators in collaboration with partners.
  • Conduct field visits to schools and learning centers to assess progress and provide technical support.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, case studies and success stories for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with government agencies, NGOs, donors and community leaders to ensure alignment of objectives.
  • Facilitate data collection, analysis and impact evaluation to inform program adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with UNESCO policies, donor requirements and local regulations.

Required Skills

  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Sesotho.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Analytical mindset for monitoring and evaluating program outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership building.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications in project management, curriculum design, or international development is highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in program coordination, educational project management, or related fields. Experience working with international NGOs, UN agencies, or government ministries in Lesotho or the Southern African region is an advantage.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary is paid monthly and includes statutory benefits as per Lesotho labor law.
