Job Overview

The Public Transportation Planner will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of integrated mobility solutions that address the unique challenges of Lesotho’s terrain and urban‑rural connectivity. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive travel demand analyses using GIS, traffic modeling, and stakeholder surveys.
• Develop multimodal transportation plans that integrate bus rapid transit, paratransit, non‑motorized transport, and emerging mobility services.
• Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and funding proposals for donors, government agencies, and private investors.
• Coordinate pilot projects such as electric bus corridors, demand‑responsive transport, and bicycle‑sharing schemes.
• Facilitate workshops and public consultations to ensure community needs and gender considerations are incorporated.
• Monitor and evaluate project performance against key indicators, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with UNDP’s climate and environment teams to align transportation initiatives with carbon‑reduction targets.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in transportation modeling software (e.g., VISUM, Aimsun, or TransCAD).
• Strong analytical abilities with experience in data visualization and GIS mapping.

Education
