Job Overview
As a Sustainable Fashion Technology Engineer, you will lead the development of next-generation eco-friendly materials and production methods. This role bridges cutting-edge technology with ethical fashion practices, supporting H&M’s mission to become climate positive by 2030. The position is based in Qacha’s Nek, Lesotho, a hub for sustainable textile innovation in Southern Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and develop sustainable materials (e.g., recycled fabrics, bio-based dyes) for fashion products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate eco-friendly technologies into production workflows
- Analyze environmental impact metrics for new textile processes
- Partner with suppliers to source ethical raw materials
- Conduct lifecycle assessments for fashion products
- Implement water and energy efficiency improvements in textile manufacturing
Required Skills
- Proficiency in sustainable textile technologies and circular design principles
- Knowledge of eco-friendly material sourcing and certification standards
- Experience with CAD software for fashion design
- Strong analytical skills for environmental impact assessments
- Excellent project management capabilities
- Fluency in Lesotho English and local textile terminology
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, or equivalent
- Advanced certification in sustainable fashion practices (preferred)
Experience
- 3-5 years in sustainable fashion technology or textile innovation
- Proven track record in implementing green manufacturing solutions
Salary
3,000 – 4,500 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
