Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sustainable forestry strategies aligned with Sappi’s global ESG goals.
- Manage day-to-day operations of forestry sites, including tree planting, harvesting, and land rehabilitation.
- Collaborate with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies to ensure ethical land use practices.
- Monitor compliance with ISO 14001 environmental management standards and FSC certification requirements.
- Optimize resource allocation to minimize ecological impact while maximizing operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Expertise in sustainable forestry techniques and reforestation methodologies.
- Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams in remote environments.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping software and environmental impact assessment tools.
- Excellent negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement with local communities.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports for regulatory submissions.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or Business Administration. Advanced certification in Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) is a plus.
Experience
3-5 years in forestry operations or sustainable resource management, with a proven track record in Lesotho’s highland terrain. Experience in paper production supply chains is advantageous.
Salary
32,000 – 48,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and performance metrics.
