Job Overview

This role involves creating comprehensive digital records of Lesotho’s cultural heritage, collaborating with local communities, and developing interactive digital platforms to showcase Basotho heritage. The position requires expertise in both traditional documentation methods and modern digital archiving technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field research to document oral histories, traditional practices, and cultural artifacts
  • Develop and maintain digital archives using specialized heritage management software
  • Create 3D models and virtual reality experiences of cultural sites
  • Collaborate with local elders and cultural practitioners to ensure accurate representation
  • Produce educational content for digital platforms and museum exhibitions

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in digital archiving tools (Adobe Creative Suite, ArchiCAD, or similar)
  • Experience with 3D modeling and virtual reality software
  • Strong knowledge of Basotho cultural traditions and history
  • Excellent communication and community engagement skills
  • Fluency in Sesotho and English

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, History, Museum Studies, or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Digital Archiving preferred

Experience

Salary

3,200 – 4,800 SSP per month, depending on experience
