Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Agricultural Technology Specialist to lead the integration of digital tools and precision farming techniques in Qacha’s Nek. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about leveraging technology to transform Lesotho’s agricultural sector. Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage precision agriculture technologies, including IoT sensors and drone-based crop monitoring.
- Collaborate with local farmers to adopt data-driven farming practices and improve productivity.
- Analyze agricultural data to identify trends, optimize resource allocation, and reduce environmental impact.
- Design and execute training programs for farmers on the use of agri-tech tools and software.
- Partner with research institutions to test and scale innovative agricultural solutions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with agricultural technology platforms (e.g., farm management software, remote sensing tools).
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Knowledge of Lesotho’s agricultural policies and rural development challenges.
- Excellent communication and project management abilities.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Sesotho is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Advanced certification in agricultural technology or sustainability practices is preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in agricultural technology implementation or rural development projects.
- Previous work in Lesotho’s agribusiness sector is advantageous.
Salary
200,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
