Job Overview
The Strategic Partnerships Manager will lead the identification, negotiation and management of high‑value partnerships that advance Schlumberger’s strategic objectives in the oil & gas services sector. This role is pivotal in expanding the company’s market footprint, fostering collaborative innovation, and driving revenue growth through joint ventures, technology alliances, and service agreements. Reporting to the Regional Business Development Director, the manager will work closely with internal stakeholders—including engineering, operations, legal and finance teams—as well as external partners such as national oil companies, independent operators, technology providers and government agencies. The position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of energy services in Lesotho and the broader Southern African region, while contributing to the company’s global vision of delivering sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential partnership opportunities that align with Schlumberger’s strategic goals and market priorities.
- Lead end‑to‑end negotiation processes, including drafting term sheets, contracts and service level agreements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including national oil companies, independent operators, technology innovators and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with internal cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of partnership deliverables into operational workflows.
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform partnership strategies and identify emerging trends in the oil & gas services sector.
- Monitor partnership performance metrics, prepare regular reports for senior leadership, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Represent Schlumberger at industry conferences, workshops and networking events to promote the company’s capabilities and thought leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and ethical standards throughout the partnership lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and contract management expertise.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of the oil & gas services market, including upstream and downstream dynamics.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in market research and financial modeling.
- Project management experience, capable of handling multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Sesotho is an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural, cross‑functional teams.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Energy Management or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is highly desirable and will be considered a strong differentiator.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of proven experience in strategic partnership development, business development or commercial management within the oil & gas sector or related high‑technology industries. Experience working in Southern Africa or emerging markets is preferred.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health benefits, pension contributions and relocation assistance where applicable.
