Job Overview

The Agricultural Supply Chain Manager will lead the end‑to‑end supply chain operations for Nestlé’s agricultural raw materials in Lesotho. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive agricultural supply chain strategy aligned with Nestlé’s global standards and local market needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and agribusiness partners to secure high‑quality raw materials.
  • Oversee procurement planning, forecasting, and inventory management to minimize waste and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Coordinate logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and cold‑chain management, to meet delivery schedules.
  • Implement sustainability initiatives such as traceability, responsible sourcing, and carbon‑footprint reduction across the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with local and international standards.
  • Analyze supply chain performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement through data‑driven decision making.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on cost savings, risk mitigation, and sustainability outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with proficiency in supply chain software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, especially with farmer groups and logistics providers.
  • Deep understanding of agricultural commodities, seasonal cycles, and market dynamics in Southern Africa.
  • Proven track record in implementing sustainability and traceability programs.
  • Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Sesotho is an advantage.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate cross‑functional teams.
  • Project management expertise, including budgeting and timeline control.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast‑changing environment and willingness to travel within Lesotho.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or PMP are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in supply chain management, preferably within the food & beverage or agribusiness sectors. Experience working with smallholder farmer networks, implementing sustainability initiatives, and managing cross‑border logistics will be viewed favorably.
