Job Overview

The Logistics Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of DHL’s Maseru hub, overseeing inbound and outbound freight, customs compliance, warehouse management, and last‑mile delivery coordination. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the incumbent will be responsible for optimizing operational processes, managing a diverse team of supervisors and staff, and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operational activities at the Maseru hub, including freight handling, customs clearance, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
  • Manage a team of supervisors, coordinators and operational staff, providing coaching, performance feedback and career development.
  • Ensure compliance with local customs regulations, safety standards, and DHL’s global operating procedures.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction, and report results to senior management.
  • Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to align operational capacity with business demand.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective action plans for any operational disruptions or service failures.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local authorities, transport partners, and third‑party service providers.
  • Prepare operational budgets, forecast resource needs, and manage cost control measures.
  • Drive the implementation of DHL’s digital tools, including warehouse management systems and real‑time tracking platforms.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management abilities, with experience leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, capable of interpreting data to drive operational decisions.
  • In‑depth knowledge of customs procedures, freight forwarding, and supply chain best practices.
  • Proficiency with logistics software, ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Sesotho is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) credentials are considered a plus.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in an international logistics environment and familiarity with African trade corridors will be highly valued.
