Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Impact Specialist to join our growing team in Qacha’s Nek. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for major infrastructure and industrial projects.
- Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMP) to mitigate potential ecological disruptions.
- Conduct field surveys and data analysis to monitor biodiversity and water quality in sensitive areas.
- Liaise with government regulatory bodies to ensure full compliance with national and international environmental laws.
- Provide expert technical advice to project managers and stakeholders regarding environmental risks and mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for executive leadership and external clients.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and environmental modeling software.
- Deep understanding of Lesotho’s environmental legislation and international sustainability frameworks.
- Exceptional technical writing and reporting capabilities.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
Education
A Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized ecological field will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional experience in environmental consulting or impact assessment, specifically within the mining, energy, or large-scale construction sectors. Proven experience working in remote or mountainous terrains is highly desirable.
Salary
The annual remuneration package for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 620,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical expertise.
