Job Overview
The Investment Portfolio Manager will lead the strategic planning, execution, and monitoring of AfDB’s investment portfolio in Lesotho. This role involves assessing market opportunities, conducting rigorous financial analysis, and ensuring that investments align with the bank’s development objectives and risk appetite. You will work closely with senior leadership, project teams, and external stakeholders to drive sustainable financial returns while supporting socio‑economic development.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement investment strategies that meet AfDB’s financial and development goals.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence, financial modeling, and risk assessments for prospective investments.
- Monitor portfolio performance, prepare regular reports, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
- Collaborate with project managers, legal teams, and external partners to structure and negotiate investment terms.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Lesotho’s macro‑economic environment, regulatory landscape, and sector trends.
- Provide mentorship to junior analysts and support capacity‑building initiatives within the investment team.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in financial modeling tools (Excel, VBA, Bloomberg, etc.).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Deep understanding of investment risk management, portfolio diversification, and asset allocation.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Sesotho is an advantage.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or CPA are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of relevant experience in portfolio management, investment banking, private equity, or related fields. Demonstrated success in managing multi‑million SSP investment portfolios and a track record of delivering measurable financial and developmental outcomes are essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 850,000 to SSP 1,200,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits.
