Job Overview

The Field Service Engineer will be the frontline technical expert responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar’s heavy equipment at customer sites throughout Lesotho. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on‑site installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of Caterpillar equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, and generators.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Provide rapid troubleshooting and corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Deliver technical training and safety briefings to customer operators and maintenance staff.
  • Maintain accurate service records, parts usage logs, and compliance documentation in line with company standards.
  • Collaborate with parts and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of spare parts.
  • Report field observations and customer feedback to engineering and product development teams for continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies during field operations.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment systems, including diesel engines, hydraulics, and electronic controls.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and handheld testing equipment.

Education

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience servicing heavy machinery in the construction, mining, or agricultural sectors. Prior experience with Caterpillar equipment is a strong advantage.

Salary
