Job Overview
The Head of Mobile Payments Innovation will lead the strategic design, development, and launch of next‑generation mobile payment products tailored to the unique needs of Lesotho’s consumers and merchants. Reporting directly to the Regional Director of Product Development, this role will shape the roadmap for mobile wallets, QR‑code payments, and contactless solutions, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and deliver exceptional user experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a comprehensive mobile payments innovation strategy aligned with Mastercard’s global vision and Lesotho market dynamics.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of product managers, UX designers, engineers, and data analysts to deliver end‑to‑end mobile payment solutions.
- Collaborate with local banks, telecom operators, merchants, and regulators to ensure seamless integration and compliance.
- Conduct market research, user testing, and data‑driven analysis to identify emerging trends and customer pain points.
- Oversee product lifecycle from concept, prototype, pilot, launch, to post‑launch optimization.
- Manage product budgets, timelines, and performance metrics, ensuring ROI and adoption targets are met.
- Represent Mastercard Lesotho at industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings to promote thought leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement through agile methodologies, A/B testing, and feedback loops.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in mobile payments ecosystems, digital wallets, and contactless technologies.
- Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities, with experience leading high‑performing product teams.
- Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and build strategic partnerships.
- Exceptional analytical skills, comfortable with data visualization tools and KPI tracking.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to influence senior stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Sesotho is an advantage.
Education
The candidate must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. A master’s degree (MBA, MSc) or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master) will be considered a strong differentiator.
Experience
Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in mobile payments, digital finance, or fintech product development, with at least five years in a senior leadership role. Demonstrated success in launching mobile payment solutions in emerging markets is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 800,000 to SSP 1,200,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
