Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Investment Manager will spearhead the financial analysis, structuring, and execution of renewable energy projects in Lesotho and the broader Southern African region. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, legal, and government liaison teams to ensure projects are financially viable, compliant, and aligned with TotalEnergies’ sustainability objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end financial modeling for solar, wind, and hydro‑electric projects, including cash‑flow forecasts, IRR, NPV, and sensitivity analyses.
- Structure and negotiate financing packages with commercial banks, multilateral development institutions, and private equity partners.
- Prepare investment memoranda, pitch decks, and due‑diligence reports for senior leadership and external investors.
- Coordinate with project development teams to align technical specifications with financial assumptions.
- Monitor project performance post‑investment, ensuring compliance with covenants and reporting requirements.
- Stay abreast of Lesotho’s regulatory framework, renewable energy incentives, and market trends to advise on risk mitigation.
- Represent TotalEnergies in stakeholder meetings, government forums, and industry conferences.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling software (Excel, VBA) and familiarity with project finance platforms.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex technical data.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and their cost structures.
- Experience working with international financing institutions such as the World Bank, AfDB, or IFC.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in French or Sesotho is an advantage.
Education
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Candidates holding a Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or professional certifications such as CFA or CPA are highly preferred.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of proven experience in renewable energy project finance, infrastructure investment, or related sectors. Prior exposure to African markets, especially Southern Africa, will be considered a strong asset.
