Job Overview

The Senior Structural Design Engineer will spearhead the design and analysis of complex structures for commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure projects throughout Lesotho. Reporting to the Regional Design Manager, you will oversee a team of junior engineers, coordinate with architects, contractors, and client stakeholders, and ensure that all designs comply with local building codes and Bechtel’s rigorous quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process from concept through detailed construction documents for a variety of projects.
• Perform advanced structural analysis using software such as SAP2000, ETABS, and STAAD.Pro.
• Develop and review design calculations, specifications, and material selections to ensure compliance with international codes and Lesotho regulations.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers and drafters, fostering a collaborative and learning‑focused environment.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, MEP engineers, and construction managers, to integrate structural solutions seamlessly.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify design intent and address on‑site challenges.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and client communications that clearly articulate design rationale.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent).

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer) or Chartered Engineer are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during selection.

Experience

Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead design role on large‑scale projects. Experience in the African construction market is a plus.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 600,000 to SSP 900,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
