Job Overview

The Azure Infrastructure Operations Manager will lead the planning, deployment, and ongoing management of Microsoft Azure services for clients across Lesotho and the broader Southern African region. Reporting to the Regional Cloud Services Director, you will be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and performance of cloud workloads, while driving operational excellence and cost optimization. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage Azure infrastructure solutions, including virtual networks, storage, compute, and security services.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and ensure 99.9% service uptime.
  • Develop and enforce cloud governance, compliance, and security standards aligned with Lesotho regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead incident response, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with sales and solution architects to translate customer requirements into scalable Azure architectures.
  • Optimize cloud spend through rightsizing, reserved instances, and cost‑management tools.
  • Mentor and coach junior cloud engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Prepare technical documentation, operational runbooks, and executive dashboards.
  • Stay current with Azure updates, emerging services, and industry best practices to drive competitive advantage.

Required Skills

  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and Azure Resource Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, security, identity management, and automation tools (PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates).
  • Proven experience with monitoring platforms (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics) and incident management frameworks.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership qualities with a track record of managing cross‑functional teams.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and operating large‑scale Azure environments, preferably in a managed services or enterprise IT setting. Prior experience leading teams and managing complex projects across multiple locations is essential.

Salary
