Job Overview

Lesotho Mining and Minerals Corporation (LMMC) is seeking a qualified Mining Geotechnical Engineer to join its operations in Qacha’s Nek, Lesotho. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, safety, and efficiency of mining operations through advanced geotechnical analysis and design. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of mining infrastructure, risk assessment, and the implementation of sustainable mining solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations and site assessments for mining projects.
  • Design and implement support systems for underground and surface mining operations.
  • Analyze rock mechanics and soil stability to mitigate risks and ensure operational safety.
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations for mining engineers and project managers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize mining processes and infrastructure development.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international mining safety and environmental regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Rocscience, GeoStudio).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is a distinct advantage.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in the mining sector. Experience with Lesotho’s mining regulations and environmental standards is highly desirable.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 3,200 to 4,800 Lesotho Pula (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
